Volvo reveals EX60

The Volvo EX60 is scheduled to arrive in South Africa in the third quarter of 2026.

Based on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture 3 platform, the EX60 was revealed in single and dual electric-motor configurations. Serving as the opening gambit to the EX60 lineup, the P6 is the sole derivative employing the former layout, while the P10 AWD and P12 AWD are equipped with the latter arrangement.

The P6’s rear-mounted electric motor produces 275kW and 480Nm of torque. According to Volvo, these figures allow the rear-wheel-driven EX60 to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds. The P6’s 83kWh (gross) battery pack, which is capable of receiving up to 320kW at a DC fast-charging facility, offers a claimed emissions-free operating range of 620km when fully charged.

The P10 AWD’s fore and aft electric motors produce a combined system output of 375kW and 710Nm — good for a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4.6 seconds. The mid-tier EX60’s all-wheel drivetrain is coupled with a 95kWh (gross) battery, which boasts a DC charging capacity of up to 370kW. Volvo claims the P10 can travel up to 660km on a full charge.

Spearheading the EX60 lineup, the P12 AWD’s twin electric-motor powertrain is endowed with 500kW and 790Nm. The flagship model dispatches the 0-100km/h dash in just 3.9 seconds, Volvo says. Equipped with a 117kWh (gross) battery, the P12 offers a claimed driving range of up to 810km. According to the firm, a 400 W DC fast charge adds up to 340km of range in just 10 minutes.

Volvo EX60 SA launch date

Volvo South Africa has confirmed the EX60 will arrive in our market during the third quarter of 2026.

Measuring 4 803mm in length and 1 908mm in width, the all-electric 60’s sculpted bodywork is 115mm longer and 6mm wider than that of its XC60 sibling. The EX60’s wheelbase spans 2 970mm, an increase of 105mm over the XC60’s. The Gothenburg brand claims a boot capacity of 523 litres.

A large landscape-oriented infotainment touchscreen takes centre stage in the minimalistic interior. A first for a Volvo, the Android Automotive OS-run setup incorporates Gemini, a new Google AI assistant, and Apple Music pre-installed with Dolby Atmos. A slim digital instrument cluster is sited fore the two-spoke multifunction steering wheel. A 28-speaker Bowers & Wikins audio system is also present. According to Volvo, the EX60 was designed to improve over time, benefitting from regular over-the-air updates.

Billed as a world-first, the EX60 introduced Volvo’s multi-adaptive safety belt tech, which the company says will offer smarter and more personalised protection for front occupants.
