It is believed the man attempted to steal tools on the back of the bakkie before the driver decided to speed off as he was about to make an escape.

The man is seen hanging on the rear end of a bakkie

A video showing a man hanging on for dear life on a rear end of a bakkie has gone viral on social media.

It is believed that the man attempted to steal tools on the back of the bakkie before the driver decided to speed off as he was about to make an escape, Rekord Centurion reported.

The video starts with a man carrying a plastic bag at the back of a moving bakkie.

The person filming the video can be heard saying that the man was trying to steal tools from the bakkie when it stopped at a traffic light. The driver apparently spotted him and sped off.

The man filming the drama then says the driver of the bakkie will not stop as this will give the alleged thief an opportunity to escape.

The video was filmed on the N1 highway in Centurion just before the Botha Avenue off-ramp.
