58 injured in Bizana bus accident

Eight people are believed to be in a critical condition following a bus accident near Bizana this morning, South Coast Herald reports.

It is believed that a total of 58 passengers sustained injuries of varying seriousness.

The incident occurred in Nkantolo, which is not far from Bizana.

The bus transporting the passengers was on its way to the OR Tambo Centenary, where President Jacob Zuma is expected to address the attending crowds.

Those injured were taken to Bizana hospital.

It is alleged by eyewitnesses that the bus driver fled the scene.

The cause of the accident has not been released yet, and will no doubt be investigated in due course.
