A second round 68 was enough for Louis de Jager to maintain his lead at the Vodacom Origins of Golf presented by Samsung at the Wild Coast Sun Country Club today.

His two-under-par total for the day meant that he moved to nine-under for the event following a blistering opening round 63.

De Jager’s birdied the par-five third hole before dropping a shot one hole later, but birdies on the fifth and seventh holes meant he went out under par for his round. The tournament leader dropped a shot on the par-three 11th hole before picking up a birdie on the 17th.

There was a climb up the leaderboard for Jaco Ahlers following an impressive round of 65 as he improved on his opening score of one-over par to move into second place, five shots behind the leader.

Botswana’s Stuart Smith joined Ahlers in a share for second after his round of one-under-par 69.
