Ekurhuleni to undergo rigorous renaming

A rigorous process of naming and renaming of council-owned facilities, street names, townships and geographical features within Ekurhuleni kickstarted at the beginning of June.

The City of Ekurhuleni has approved the Ekurhuleni Geographical Naming and Renaming Policy in June last year, Kempton Express has reported. As provided for by the policy, the City of Ekurhuleni established the Ekurhuleni Geographical Naming and Renaming Committee.

The success of naming and renaming of Ekurhuleni’s facilities and geographical features are based on community participation and consultation processes, which started in Thokoza on Saturday.

This will be followed by a meeting at Rabasotho Community Hall in Tembisa on June 9 and another at Tsakane Community Hall on June 23.

Nomination forms for naming and renaming are available at all libraries in Ekurhuleni as well as on the Ekurhuleni Website, www.ekurhuleni.gov.za

The nominations for names for all new, existing townships and street names must be submitted to Dikeledi Mabote on 011 999 3209 or email dikeledi.mabote@ekurhuleni.gov.za
