KZN couple assaulted, robbed after attending funeral
The 50-year-old man was bleeding profusely from a cut on his face while his 49-year-old wife suffered an injury to her leg.

A Chatsworth couple in KwaZulu-Natal was assaulted and robbed by two unknown men along a road near Verulam after they parked their vehicle in an isolated area to have lunch.
According to a report issued by local security company, Reaction Unit South Africa, the man and his wife stopped a RUSA ambulance near Todd Street and requested medical assistance on Thursday, the Rising Sun Chatsworth reports.
The 50-year-old man was bleeding profusely from a cut to his face while his 49-year-old wife suffered an injury to her leg.
The couple said they had attended a funeral in Verulam and thereafter decided to visit family in Tongaat. While en route, they stopped on the roadside near a sugar cane plantation and decided to have a home-packed lunch.
The report further stated that two suspects then approached the couple and demanded valuables from them. One suspect was armed with a firearm while his accomplice was in possession of a stick that he used to assault the man.
The woman was dragged out of the vehicle and forced to hand over her valuables. The suspects fled the scene with the victims’ cellphones, cash, jewellery and their lunch.
The couple then drove to Verulam where they sought assistance from the passing ambulance.
The RUSA team patrolled the area in search of the suspects, but no arrests were made.
