KZN restaurant owner stabbed by robbers

The businessman's daughter was held at gunpoint.

Willowton Palace restaurant manager Nadeem Sirkort sustained serious injuries, and had to be admitted to hospital this morning as he was called upon to defend his family when two intruders forced their way into his Anvar Court flat and attacked him, Public Eye reports.

Blood was splattered throughout the house as the intruders stabbed Nadeem in the chest when he apparently tried to resist.

Nadeem fended off the two intruders until they pulled a gun on his younger daughter and demanded valuables, including cellphones and cash. The suspects then made off with phones and large sums of cash and threatened neighbours on their way out with guns to go back into their houses.

Nadeem had to be rushed to hospital where he was stitched and given x-rays to investigate whether he had any internal bleeding.

Mohammed Asad, a family member, said: “Nadeem is currently recovering and should be discharged today. Apparently, they were young guys who spoke English fluently. We don’t know if they’re South African or not.”

The suspects were seen making off in a Volkswagen Polo with another guy in the driver’s seat, making it a total of three men.

Willowton shop assistant Shireen Seekola said: “She went over to the house to help clean up, and what she saw was terrifying. There was blood everywhere, and all the draws in the rooms had been opened.”

She stated that the intruders forced Nadeem to physically get everything, as they did not want to touch anything in the house. Nadeem’s wife, who is heavily pregnant and is due to give birth today, has been left devastated by the event.
