Jub Jub and co-accused released on parole

The disgraced hip hop star is still subject to correctional supervision.

Molemo Maarohanye, also known as Jub Jub, has been released on parole after spending more than four years in prison.

The hip hop artist’s 25-year sentence handed down in 2012 was changed to an eight-year sentence for culpable homicide in 2014. They killed four schoolchildren during a drag racing accident.

“The department of correctional services can confirm the parole placement of Katlego Molemo Maarohanye and Themba Shabalala as approved by the Correctional Supervision and Parole Boards (CSPBs) of Leeuwkop and Baviaanspoort with effect from 5 January 2017,” spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said in a statement.

“They will complete the remainder of the sentence in the system of community corrections, whereby they must comply with specific set of conditions and will be subjected to supervision until the sentence expires,” Nxumalo said on Thursday.
