These regions in Pretoria North are without water

The City of Tshwane said residents will be notified 'as soon as there are concrete developments'.

The City of Tshwane provided an update regarding the Pretoria North water outages affecting supply interruption to several neighbourhoods.

Residents have been without water due to a damaged pipeline, first reported to the City on Sunday, 18 December.

Damaged pipeline

According to the City of Tshwane, repairs had to be carried out on a 600mm transmission steel pipeline, which is the main water supply for the Pretoria North region.

Technicians were only able to source the needed pipe fittings from a supplier on Monday afternoon and were dispatched to the site on Tuesday.

The damaged section of the pipe was repaired and water was restored on Tuesday evening.

However, the City said, “It was later discovered that the pipeline was also damaged on other points which were not visible at the time of the initial repairs”.

Repairs delayed

The technicians returned to the site on Wednesday “but could not work on the pipeline as it was waterlogged”.

On Thursday, the City of Tshwane said: “Technicians are currently hard at work aiming to restore water supply to the affected areas later today”.

An estimated time of return had not been made available at the time of publishing, but residents will be notified “as soon as there are concrete developments”.
