Gavin Hunt explains he didn’t kill Lebo Mathuloe
The model's alleged murder led many Twitter sleuths to conclude the Wits coach needed to explain himself.

Social media ran riot on Tuesday with allegations that a young model had been stabbed to death by her “white boyfriend” in North West.
One picture circulating of Mathuloe appeared to have been taken with PSL coach Gavin Hunt, and this led many to believe Hunt was the man who allegedly killed her at the exclusive Pecanwood Estate in Hartbeespoort.
Pecanwood is the same estate where Mark Zinde allegedly killed his mother Hope Zinde last year.
(Update: North West police spokesman Col Sabata Mokgwabone said police were investigating following an incident in which Mathuloe allegedly stabbed herself several times with a knife in the early hours of Monday at Pecanwood Estate.
Mokgwabone said Mathuloe was certified dead by a doctor at the golf course in the estate at around 6.30am on Monday.
He said a postmortem would be conducted and people who claimed Mathuloe was murdered on social media were welcome to inform the inquest.)
The chatter about Mathuloe’s alleged murder reached such a crescendo by late Tuesday that Hunt himself apparently felt the need to weigh in and explain that he barely knew the young woman and he had merely allowed her to take a selfie with him, which he said happens all the time.

The reports on Twitter alleged that Mathuloe was stabbed “in the neck and chest by her white boyfriend at Pecanwood [Estate]” in Hartbeespoort. She reportedly ran to the estate’s entrance seeking help, but did not survive her injuries.
Mathuloe is listed as a model with G3 Models.
The Citizen has not been able to verify these reports, but the much-publicised “fact” that she was killed by a “white man” was disputed on Facebook by someone claiming to be Mathuloe’s cousin.
Nevertheless, this has not stopped the Twitter engine from churning out messages of shock about the fact that the “killer” either looks a lot like Wits’s coach or it actually is Gavin Hunt.

Mathuloe, according to an old Twitter account, also appears to have been a contestant on Take Me Out SA a few years ago.
