SA Weather Services issues heatwave warning for Gauteng

High temperatures have been predicted for the Gauteng province on Monday.

The South African Weather Service has issued a heatwave advisory, the second in as many weeks, with persistently high temperatures predicted for Gauteng province on Monday.

Gauteng’s commercial hub and Johannesburg and Vereeniging are set to reach temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius while the country’s capital Pretoria will climb as high as 37 degrees Celsius.

The weather service said the heatwave may cause sunburn, and eye and skin damage to those exposed.

It encouraged Gauteng residents to stay in the shade, apply sunscreen, and wear sunglasses or wide brim hats.
