Drugs and brothel bust in Rustenburg, 21 suspects to appear in court

Cocaine with an estimated street value of R400,000 was seized in Rustenburg, North West police said on Friday.

Brigadier Sabata Mokwabone said 21 people were arrested for dealing and possession of drugs as well as contravention of Sexual Offences Act during operation Kolomaka on Thursday.

“Cocaine with an estimated street value of R400,000  and R53,000 were seized after being found in possession of the suspects. It was also during the operation that four vehicles worth R550,000 were confiscated as instruments of crime,” said Mokgwabone.

He said the arrest followed an intensive investigation in February into illicit drug deals and brothels operating from residences in Rustenburg and Tlhabane.

“The suspects, including one female are expected to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrates’s Court on Friday. Of the 21 suspects, 15 will be facing charges of dealing and possession of drugs while the other six will appear on charges relating to the contravention of Sexual Offences Act, 1957.”
