60-year-old man remanded in custody for allegedly raping teen

The suspect will appear at the Evander District Court on Tuesday pending bail application.

A 60-year-old man was remanded in custody by the Leslie Magistrate’s Court on Monday for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman in September, reports Mpumalanga News.

According to information at police disposal, the suspect allegedly raped the victim at his house in Lebogang near Leslie, on September 30, 2018.

The sequence of events suggests that the victim had attended a funeral with the suspect and his family when they all proceeded to the suspect’s house afterwards.

A few moments later, the suspect’s wife, as well as other family members, left the house, leaving the victim alone with the suspect. The suspect allegedly proceeded to his bedroom and called the victim to follow him where he then allegedly raped her.
