The police recovered 'a substantial amount of prohibited items' during the search.


Law enforcement officials confiscated numerous “prohibited” items during a search operation at Hoërskool De Anker in Brakpan on Tuesday.

The South African Police Service (Saps) in Brakpan conducted the operation at the school located in Sector 3 of the policing precinct.

School safety first

Among the seized items were various dangerous weapons, vapes, knives, cannabis, cigarettes and alcohol.

The primary objective of the operation was to maintain safety within the school, the police explained.

“The operation aimed to prevent lawlessness and ensure safety within school premises by removing illicit articles,” the police statement read.

Authorities recovered what they described as “a substantial amount of prohibited items” during the search.

“The school principal expressed appreciation for the efforts of law enforcement agencies in promoting discipline and safety among learners,” the police reported.
