Man arrested for hacking friend to death outside Pretoria
A drinking session with friends turned deadly after an argument ensued, resulting in the victim being attacked with an axe.

Welbekend police in Pretoria have arrested a 47-year-old man who allegedly hacked his friend to death over the weekend, reports Pretoria East Rekord.
The incident happened on Saturday night in the Ystervarkfontein area, according to police spokesperson Sergeant Tsietsi Lamola.

“It is alleged that a man was visited by two friends and an argument ensued between two of them while they were drinking. The victim was attacked with an axe,” he said.
The 37-year-old suspect was traced and arrested through a detective-driven operation within a period of less than 24 hours on Sunday, Lamola said.
He is expected to appear before the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s Court this week.
In a separate incident, Welbekend police have opened an inquest docket after a 31-year-old man was found hanged on Sunday afternoon in his rented room.
