Police are investigating a case of murder after a man and a woman died in a hail of bullets, while travelling in a Ferrari in Soweto on Sunday.

The 41-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were driving in the Ferrari at the corner of Chris Hani and Klipvalley roads in Soweto at around 10pm.

“A Toyota Etios with unconfirmed number of occupants blocked them and started shooting at the Ferrari before speeding off,” said police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo.

Both victims died on the scene.

The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.

“No suspects have been arrested so far. We appeal to the community to assist the police with any information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects. They can contact the Moroka police at 011527-0000 or 08600 10111,” said Masondo.

News24 reported that the shooting came two weeks after a police reservist and her boyfriend were shot dead while driving a Ford Mustang in Soweto.

The gunman reportedly then went home and shot himself.

The gunman was a taxi owner suspected to have been the woman’s former lover.
