Squash coach robbed, stabbed at Alex youth centre
The coach says he can no longer accommodate the youths with transport after he was stabbed in the leg during the robbery.

Local squash coach Chris Hughes is recovering after escaping death on February 12, when a group of criminals stabbed and robbed him of his valuables on the premises of Thusong Youth Centre in Alexandra, reports Alex Times.
Hughes said after the incident that this was the first time he had fallen victim to a robbery since 2015, when he started working with the local youngsters.

“I was on the premises of the youth centre to pick up a group of youngsters, whom I train to play squash at Wanderers Cricket Club, when a group of men appeared from nowhere, robbed [me] and stabbed me in the leg.
“Local people have been friendly and supportive towards the project all these years. The kids like the sport, but they will have to find themselves alternative transportation to and from the training sessions from now on.”
Hughes said that he now feared for his life after the harrowing incident.
“I love working with these committed and discipline youngsters, but I cannot put my life in danger after what happened.”
Hughes said he did not report the matter at the local police station because he was in a state of shock. He was admitted to the Milpark Hospital, where he was treated for stab wounds.
Hughes added that he strongly believed he was not the designated target for the robbery.
