DA, EFF’s reports on Tshwane’s ‘financial mess’ a lie, says ANC
The ANC caucus said technical glitches were to blame for some of the irregularities found in the city's finances.

Auditor-general (AG) reports have revealed the capital city has received an unqualified audit, despite allegations by the DA-led council that the Tshwane metro was a financial mess.
“The AG found that the performance information reported in the predetermined objectives were reliable,” the AG committee said on Thursday at this year’s first council sitting.
But there were certain irregularities within the city’s finances, including expenditure of R1.3 million as a result of electricity distribution losses and inaccuracies about the city’s assets.

ANC caucus spokesperson Lesego Makhubela said challenges came when the city, under the ANC, implemented electronic e-procurement, meant to combat corruption within the supply chain.
“It did not, in any way, suggest monies were stolen,” Makhubela said. “It was just technical glitches that occurred.”
He said the report had exposed the DA and EFF’s “lies that the ANC, at the time, had no respect for the public purse”.
But spokesperson Samkelo Mgobozi said mayor Solly Msimanga would study the audit and further analyse the financial statements.
An unqualified audit means all information in the statements is accurate.
