Guns drawn at KZN ANC meeting to be investigated

By Citizen Reporter

A probe into an ANC meeting in the Moses Mabhida region, which descended into chaos on Monday and saw guns being drawn, will be launched by the party’s KwaZulu-Natal provincial interim committee, reports ANN7.

The meeting was held in Howick, outside Pietermaritzburg, on Monday evening to determine the state of readiness for the region to hold its elective conference.

Chaos erupted when some members tried to force their way into the meeting.

A video of a bodyguard who drew a gun following the chaos was circulated on social media. Watch the video here.

Subsequently, provincial interim committee convener Mike Mabuyakhulu has announced that the provincial elective conference in KZN has been postponed indefinitely.

The elective conference became a necessity after the election of the provincial executive committee, which resulted with Sihle Zikalala ousting Senzo Mchunu as the party’s provincial chairperson, was nullified in court in September last year.

Mabuyakhulu was quoted as saying the party had resolved to probe the incident that occurred on Monday to determine what exactly took place at the meeting.

“We are disappointed about the fact that there was a scene of firearms displayed, and some got to the extent that they were fired in public,” he told ANN7.
