Kubayi says she will not interfere with the new SABC board
We need to give the board space to do an assessment of the entity and to decide what they want to achieve at the SABC, says Kubayi.

The new board for the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will be allowed to operate without interference from herself, said Communications Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi.
On Tuesday, President Jacob Zuma appointed the new board to run the embattled public broadcaster after the SABC’s interim board’s term of office came to an end on September 26.
The Cabinet reshuffle on the same day also saw Zuma appointing Kubayi from energy minister to her current position.
The board will need to address the matter of former minister Ayanda Dlodlo extending the acting appointments of three senior executives, whose contracts recently expired, among other issues.
EWN reported that Kubayi said: “We need to give that board space to do an assessment of the entity and to decide what they want to achieve at the SABC. At this point in time, I’ll have to wait on them to do that assessment. They’ll come to me afterwards so that we can act on their plan.”
Kubayi’s first meeting with the SABC board will take place on Monday.
