Student critical after shocking stabbing at local school in Limpopo

The suspect stabbed the victim with a sharp instrument before he fled the scene, police say.


A 21-year-old learner was stabbed by another pupil during school hours, at the school premises of a high school outside Tzaneen in Limpopo on Monday afternoon, Letaba Herald reports.

“Police in Letsitele outside Tzaneen have since launched a manhunt for a 21-year-old suspect, who is a learner at one of the high schools in the area, and allegedly fled the scene after the incident.”

According to a reliable source, the incident occurred at the Mbhekwana High School in the N’wamitwa area.

The victim was admitted to hospital, and is currently recuperating.

It is alleged that the suspect had a fight with the victim who is also a 21-year-old learner and both doing Grade 11, according to police.

“During the fight, the suspect stabbed the victim with a sharp instrument before he fled the scene. The victim was immediately transported to hospital in a critical condition for medical treatment where he is still recuperating,” Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said.
