Two killed in PTA west fires

One man was electrocuted to death at a primary school, and the other perished in a fire at his home in Hermanstad.

Two men died in two separate fire incidents in the west of Pretoria at the weekend, Pretoria Moot Rekord reports.

One man was electrocuted to death on Saturday evening at Kwaggasrand Primary School, according to Best Care spokesperson Xander Loubser.

“Preliminary reports indicated that the man made contact with live [electric] wires before an explosion. When paramedics arrived on the scene, he had burnt beyond recognition,” he said.

The cause of the fire was unknown, said Loubser.

Pretoria West police confirmed that investigations are under way.

“It is unclear whether the man worked at the school.”

On Sunday a 78-year-old man had burnt to death in his home in Hermanstad.

“His neighbour burnt her arm while trying to save him,” said Loubser.
