The 45-year-old motorist lost control of his bakkie, which then overturned. He had been shot several times, including once in the head.

According to Provincial SAPS communications officer Colonel Thembeka Mbhele, the victim was later identified as a taxi boss from Amandawe, KZN, affiliated with the Vulamehlo Taxi Association.

Two men were also shot and killed in Amandawe. Both are said to be linked to the taxi industry.

On Saturday morning, March 17, a 50-year-old man was shot and killed near his Amandawe home. Police found the body of Thulani Albert Ngcongo lying in the middle of a dirt road a short distance from his home.

“He had been shot several times in the head and neck,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer Captain Vincent Pandarum. The motive for the killing is yet to be established.

“On Sunday, March 18,  a 52-year-old man was shot dead in Amandawe. He was concealed under a duvet and had been shot in in the chest and neck,” said provincial SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane.

No arrests have been made in any of the cases.
