Mbalula is the ‘inspiration behind cops with umkhaba’
Some of these cops look like they have swallowed watermelons, according to Mbalula's critic.

There is a photo of three police officers posing with two suspects that has been circulating on social media and has even come to Minister of Sports and Recreation Fikile Mbalula’s attention.
The reason for its circulating is that one of the officers apparently looks like the minister. “Awu bathong! So he doubles as Sports Minister and a cop,” said the user who shared the picture.
It seems Mbalula only saw the picture today and commented on it, reminding followers that he was the deputy minister of police, not a police officer. “I don’t have a double life,” he said.

Some of his followers disputed that the man in the picture looked like him, or was even him but said he did well as the deputy. “You did a great job, you were visible your approach towards crime was radical something that is missing currently,” one said.
Another, who believed that the man in the picture was Mbalula, said it showed how easy it was to be a police officer in South Africa. “What an example from minister of sports. It’s actually a joke,” they said.
“So you’re the inspiration behind cops with umkhaba [pot belly]. Others have even excelled … look like they’ve swallowed melons,” said another, who clearly thought the cop in the picture was the minister.
