SA granny sues UK stripper for allegedly blinding her with his pants

Groenewald believes the event's organisers are liable for not ensuring the venue had enough space.

A 58-year-old Capetonian woman is suing popular British strippers The Dreamboys for £150,000 (around R2.6 million), claiming that she was blinded by a sexy fireman’s trousers during his routine.

UK publication The Mirror reports that Merle Groenewald alleges the hunk tore off his clothes and his trousers “hit her in the eye” during a Dreamboys show in London which she attended as part of a girls’ night out.

In her claim, Groenewald stated that the organisers of the show “failed to ensure that there was sufficient space between the performers and the audience, so as to ensure that the performance could be carried out safely”.

During her recent testimony in court, Groenewald recounted how she had to be rushed to hospital after the show with injuries to her left eye.

She claimed she had since been left permanently blind in her left eye and temporarily blind in her right.

Though the case only made headlines this week, the incident in question happened back in 2014 and was only recently set for a three-day trial on a date to be fixed.

Groenewald has since returned to South Africa and is awaiting the outcome of her case.
