South Coast water park revival under way
The aim is for the multimillion-rand facility to be the biggest in Africa.

A murdered father’s dream is now set to come true as his children are determined to get the construction of “Africa’s biggest water park” at Kelso, on KwaZulu-Natal’s South Coast, back on track, reports the Mid South Coast Mail.
The multimillion-rand Amazon Valley Water Park was first announced in the Mid South Coast Mail in February 2015 and it was seen at the time as a real vote of confidence in Umdoni’s stagnant economy.
It was Gauteng developer Peter Meyer’s “dream”.
The grand plans were brought to an abrupt halt by he and his wife’s brutal murder at their home in Krugersdorp in November that year.
The murders remain unsolved.
In memory of their parents, the couple’s daughter and two sons now plan to go ahead with the park.

The giant facility is to be situated adjacent to Happy Wanderers caravan park and is expected to draw a huge income to the area, creating much-needed employment.
Time frames will obviously be determined by red tape, but it is believed much of the equipment had already been sourced before the Meyers’ murders.
So the dream might become a reality sooner than later.
The park is to include 23 family slides, tube rides and wave riders. Some of the slides will be a first for South Africa.
There will also be restaurants, eight takeaway franchises, a children’s play park, an animal farm, canopy tours, lodge accommodation, venues for weddings and other functions, as well as 80 sites for caravans.
Durban Metrorail is also expected to stop on the park’s doorstep and there will be parking for at least 500 cars.
