SA Weather Service issues level 2 warning for damaging winds in parts of Western Cape

Cold weather with isolated showers and rain are expected in the southern parts of the Eastern Cape.


The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds leading to difficulty in navigation at sea along the coast between Gansbaai in the Western Cape and Alexander Bay in the Northern Cape until Tuesday morning.

Monday’s weather service

Gauteng: Fine and warm. The expected UVB sunburn index: Very High.

Mpumalanga: Fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy in the evening with fog patches over the southern escarpment. It will be hot in the Lowveld.

Limpopo: Fine and warm to hot.

North West: Fine and warm.

Free State: Fine and cool to warm.

Northern Cape: Fine and cool to warm, but cold in the extreme south-west parts, where it will be cold. The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly and south-easterly.

Western Cape: Fine and cool in the north-west, otherwise partly cloudy and cold with isolated showers in the south, but scattered along the south coast, where it will be cloudy.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly to southerly along the south coast, otherwise fresh to strong southeasterly to southerly reaching near gale to gale force along the west and south-west coast in the afternoon. The expected UVB sunburn index: Moderate.

Western half of the Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy and cool to cold with isolated showers and rain in the south, but scattered along the coast, where it will be cloudy. The wind along the coast will be strong south-westerly, becoming fresh by evening.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy and cool to cold with isolated showers and rain in the south, but scattered along the coast and adjacent interior where it will be cloudy. The wind along the coast will be strong south-westerly.

KwaZulu-Natal: Fine and warm in the north at first, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated showers and rain. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly, strengthening in the south from the evening. The expected UVB sunburn index: Low.
