Weird bright light in CBD leaves Joburg guessing
One Facebook joker said the bright light was the 'Zupta mothership' preparing for takeoff.
Apparently strange images of a bright light in Johannesburg uploaded by Pigspotter unleashed speculation on social media on Thursday.
A very bright light was emanating from the Joburg CBD. The pics are definitely not photoshopped, as Citizen staff saw the same thing and also had a bit of a “huh?” moment.

Pigspotter’s photos were taken near the Beyers Naude off-ramp on to the N1 at around 10 in the morning. Followers explained the mystery quite quickly. It’s caused by the bright light reflecting off the Diamond Building in Diagonal Street.
Mark Taitz explained: “We get it in the eye everyday across in Braamfontein at this time of the year.”
