A dispute between a mother and daughter ended in tragedy at Nqopheni Reserve, KwaMsane, KwaZulu-Natal.

The 16-year-old daughter committed suicide after she and her mother had an argument during a church service on Sunday, Zululand Observer reported.

According to police, the squabble started when the mother accused her daughter of sleeping during the sermon.

According to reports, the teen told her mother she was feeling drowsy, but the mother hit her, accusing her daughter of having a bad attitude that needed to change.

The argument became heated, and according to the police, local boys had to separate the pair.

The teen left the church, and later a gunshot was heard.

She was found slumped against a garage wall with a gunshot to the head, with her father’s gun lying next to her.

She was apparently rushed to a local clinic and later transferred to Netcare The Bay Hospital, where she died in the intensive care unit.
