A gang of men robbed the Checkers Liquor Shop Virginia Circle, KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday morning.
The gang, carrying sledgehammers and firearms smashed through the glass window of the shop before making off with several bottles of alcohol, Northglen News reported.
According to police sources, the gang of seven were in and out of the store within two minutes.
A video of the break-in emerged on social media showing the robbers in action. The gang are seen wearing balaclavas and frantically passing boxes of alcohol to each other in the video.
The men then load the stolen items into their getaway car before speeding off. One of the sledgehammers used in the robbery was left behind at the scene of the crime.
According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Durban North SAPS are investigating a case of robbery and no arrests have yet been made.
