Tyres and cars damaged on gravel roads

Some roads are covered in gravel as a result of roadworks in the Esenembe, Shakaskraal and Glendale areas.

Be extra cautious when driving on the road in the areas of Esenembe, Shakaskraal and Glendale where roadworks are underway.

There’s gravel covering the road for about 30kms around the Avon Peaking power plant according to Donovan Chetty from Ballito 911 Comms Whatsapp group.

Much of the road linking Esenembe with the Glendale Road is also covered with gravel and there are no warning signs.

“We have had several reports of tyres damaged and already two cars have veered into the bushes. There have been no injuries but there has been damage to cars.

“Please reduce speeds and avoid cycling on this route as there are plenty of roadwork trucks and lots of dust in the air,” said Chetty.

The roadworks are expected to continue for about two months.

People driving to Club Venture, Rain Farm Lodge and Lucky Linton Family Park should also be aware of huge potholes – “real destroyers”, warned Chetty.
