Taxi driver’s leg amputated in freak M4 accident
The accident created a four vehicle pile-up.
A late afternoon accident on the M4 involving four vehicles has resulted in a man losing his leg.
The taxi driver, who was reportedly standing next to his taxi, suffered an amputated leg after a motorist reportedly drove into him.

The taxi was parked at a taxi stop on the M4 north near the Zimbali circle when a woman, who was driving a Mercedes Benz Vito, reportedly collided with the driver.
“All the other vehicles were coming from Tongaat towards Ballito. No other occupants of the taxi or other vehicles involved, were injured,” said Paul Herbst of IPSS Medical Rescue.
It is unclear how the accident unfolded and will be investigated by police.
The critically injured man was transported to Stanger hospital.
