TWO people were killed in separate accidents on Friday night. In one of the incidents, two brothers were hit by a car while walking along the M25. According to Chris Botha, Netcare 911 spokesman both boys had life threatening injuries.

“Reports from the scene indicate that the vehicle struck the 16-year-old brothers who were walking on the sidewalk. It was discovered the brothers were twins.  When paramedics arrived at the scene they found the boys lying on the ground with life threatening injuries. Tragically, it was found that the one of the twins died due to the extensive injuries that he sustained, his brother is in a critical condition,” he said.

In a separate incident a woman was killed attempting to cross Umgeni Road. According to Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesperson, the 30-year-old woman died after she was struck by a bakkie on Friday afternoon.

“She sustained a severe leg injury and possible internal injuries. She was in a critical condition. She was treated on the scene and rushed to Addington Hospital for further care. Shortly after arrival at hospital her condition suddenly deteriorated. Paramedics and doctors initiated CPR, but despite their efforts they could not revive her and she was later declared dead. The driver of the bakkie was not injured in the incident. Local traffic police attended the scene,” Vermaak said.
