Remote jammers targeting area warns SAPS
10 cases were reported over a two day period this week.

DURBAN North SAPS has warned of a remote jamming syndicate operating in the Durban North, Glenashley, La Lucia and uMhlanga area. More than 20 cases of theft out of motor vehicles have been reported this week alone. At least 10 of those cases occurred over a two day period.
Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North police station said the syndicate were not only targeting cars with laptops, but were on the lookout for opportunities.
“We are concerned about this spike but we are urging residents not to leave valuables in their car. There have also been a number of attempted thefts. No force was used to break into the cars around 90 per cent of the time, which means a remote jamming device has been used.
“This syndicate is always on the lookout for any opportunity. Items such as laptops, cameras, and phones are what the suspects most often look for. I urge residents to double-check they have locked their cars and not to leave valuables in their cars,” he said.
