GLENHILLS resident, Lara Murran, has described trip to New York next year for the International Modeling and Talent Association (IMTA) convention as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity’. The 20-year-old model has been trying to raise funds to cover her ticket cost to the United States of America and said she hopes to leave a lasting impression on the more than 300 agents and producers at the convention.

Earlier this year she took part in The International ARTS Talent showcase in Silverstar Casino (Krugersdorp) where she was selected to go to the IMTA next year alongside many other talented models, singers, actors and dancers.
All of the contestants were chosen by five international judges, Joey Hunter, Nate Butler, Blaze Johnson, Joey Zangardi-Dixon and Rhavynn Drummer.

“My goal heading into the competition in Krugersdorp was to impress the judges and possibly be chosen to get an opportunity to model in New York. When they announced I had made it I was ecstatic with the results. I’ve been dreaming of becoming a model since I was in Grade 3 and it’s a passion of mine. For me this trip is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“To get my foot in the door internationally is such an amazing privilege and to know there are more than 300 agents and producers at the convention I’m hoping for my big break. My family have been behind me the whole way which has been such a blessing and help. They’ve also been spreading the word about my fundraising initiatives,” she explained.

Part of Murran’s efforts to fundraise has seen her sell tickets for a raffle for three prizes.

“There are three main prizes, a weekend stay at holiday house on the South Coast (Hibberdene) valued at R5 200. There is also a two-hour photo shoot with Matt Bartholomew Photography valued at R1 300 and a Gateway gift voucher for R1 000. I’m hoping people will support me in my journey going forward,” she said.
