WATCH: Video of Cornubia Mall armed robbery surfaces

A video of a gang robbing a store at a shopping mall and coolly making their get-away is circulating on social media.

A VIDEO circulating on TikTok shows robbers at Cornubia Mall casually dragging the loot while others keep guard outside. They seem unbothered and not in any hurry. The clip then ends as the men disappear out of sight.

A gang of about 10 armed men stormed a jewellery store at the popular shopping mall and made off with an undisclosed quantity of goods.

In the video, a woman is heard saying: “I wonder where’s the cops though… they running… oh my God, they so casual about it… Oh my God. Check what they taking…”

Screams can also be heard in the video but it is uncertain where they emanate from.

Cornubia Mall confirmed to Northglen News on Monday that an armed robbery had taken place at one of the stores on Sunday, September 21, at approximately 11:55.

The statement read: “No injuries have been reported, and the matter has been handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation. The safety and security of shoppers, tenants and staff remains a top priority for Cornubia Mall. The mall is trading as normal.”

According to KZN VIP the suspects posed as shoppers and entered the store with shopping bags. They then held staff members at gunpoint and forced them into a corner before smashing glass cabinets.

The suspects fled the scene in a white Toyota Starlet registration number: MM05XT GP.
