Woman held at knifepoint in Avoca

Greenwood Park SAPS is continuing with the investigation where a woman was robbed while working from home.

A WOMAN working from home on Avoca Road was held at knifepoint during a brazen daytime home invasion on Tuesday, according to Swift Private Security.

Swift Private Security spokesperson Sanveer Sooklall said the company received a call from one of its clients at around 13:00 reporting that a resident was screaming for help. Response officers were immediately dispatched.

“Upon arrival, our officers met with the resident, who is not a client. She told our team that a male suspect, dressed in blue pants and blue overalls, forced his way into her home and threatened her with a knife while he removed a television,” said Sooklall.

The victim managed to escape the house and ran onto the road, shouting for help. Sooklall said the suspect fled on foot, disappearing into the bush behind the property with the stolen TV.

Swift officers conducted a patrol of the surrounding area but were unable to find the suspect.

“Despite an extensive search, the suspect could not be located,” said Sooklall.

He said Swift Private Security remains committed to supporting residents in the area. “We continue to assist the community wherever possible and remain focused on helping deter crime in surrounding neighbourhoods,” he said.
