That was one of the suggestions made by a resident at last week’s crime imbizo at St Michael’s Church.

The imbizo involved senior members of the Durban North police station, including the Visible Policing Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Pam Nair, and the detective commander Lieutenant Colonel Sujith Rohith.
The meeting was attended by 22 residents who raised concerns and listened to feedback from police.
There was an apology from Metro Police who were absent for a second imbizo in a row, and many of the issues raised were centred on their enforcement of road traffic rules.
Residents conceded that operations had taken place after an initial meeting with uMhlanga Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association (URRA) and City mayor Cyril Xaba and other senior city officials in October this year, however, since then there had been more instances of reckless driving in the area.
One resident raised the possibility of installing more speed calming measures such as speed humps.
