Trespassing suspect caught hiding in ceiling of Durban North home

The suspect was handed over to officers from the Durban North police station following the incident on Wednesday.

A SUSPECT was arrested after breaking into a home and hiding in a ceiling of a Durban North home to evade arrest on Wednesday morning (April 8).

This is the second incident since February where officers had to borrow a ladder to effect the arrest of a suspect who hid in the ceiling of a Greenwood Park home.

In the latest incident, a suspect was spotted jumping into a property on Carlisle Crescent by an alert neighbour who contacted Marshall Security.

Company spokesperson Tyron Powell said when officers arrived on scene they found displaced roof tiles.

“Using a step ladder our officers accessed the ceiling space where the suspect was located hiding. The suspect was instructed to come down and was successfully apprehended on site without further incident. The suspect was handed over to Durban North SAPS, who attended the scene and transported the suspect to the station for further processing and investigating,” Powell said.

While the suspect did not steal anything he was handed over to the Durban North SAPS.
