Project to uplift and restore Glenashley library
The library committee explained they have a wish list of things they hope to achieve at the municipal library on Lindsay Drive.
THE Friends of Glenashley Library Committee (FOL) have embarked on a restoration and upliftment project of the Glenashley Library (The Brian Page Library) which they hope to launch on Saturday, July 18.
Angela Buccellato and Diane Whittaker, members of the Friends of the Library, explained they have a wish list of things they hope to achieve at the municipal library on Lindsay Drive.
“Many of us have been members of this library for several decades and our children have also used this library. It is such a valuable resource for our community and we are hoping to restore and uplift the library as a safe, welcoming space for learning, reading and community connection.

“We already have commitments from people and businesses and have secured paint through a kind donation and we hope to scrape and paint the outside of the library. We are also looking at fixing the paving, putting up fencing, a concrete table and benches, blinds and upgrading the bathrooms. Nelson Mandela has a saying, ‘It always seems impossible until it’s done’, and we’ve taken that to heart for this project. The FOL would welcome any assistance from the community, be it in the form of donations or materials or offer to help with the various projects.”
Other items on the wish list include upgrading the staff kitchen, installing non-slip tiling, and repairing, sealing and varnishing of timber windows.
