Update: uMhlanga businessman’s bail application postponed

An uMhlanga businessman appeared briefly in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on allegations of human trafficking and kidnapping.

An uMhlanga businessman arrested on allegations of human trafficking and kidnapping made a brief appearance in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday).

The matter was postponed to August 25 for a formal bail application.

The businessman cannot be named at this stage as the charges relate to alleged sexual offences. His identity may only be published once he has pleaded.

According to media reports, the KZN Hawks executed a J50 warrant of arrest at the businessman’s upmarket uMhlanga home on Tuesday, August 11.

The businessman’s name has previously been mentioned at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, which is investigating allegations of corruption within the SAPS and the criminal justice system.
