Rain has final say in PMB

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins were taking on the Moothee Ram Tuskers at the Maritzburg Oval in Pietermaritzburg.

IT was a frustrating day as weather interruptions led to the Hollywoodbets Dolphins’ CSA One-Day Cup game ending in a no result on Sunday.

The Dolphins were taking on the Moothee Ram Tuskers at the Maritzburg Oval in Pietermaritzburg.

The Tuskers, who lost their opening two games of the 50-over competition, won the toss and elected to bat first.

Rain interrupted both teams’ innings but the Tuskers set the target, scoring 211/9 in 41 overs.

Opening batsman Malcolm Nofal top-scored for the Tuskers with 49 off 67 balls and was ably backed by his fellow opener Jack Leesc who scored 39.

After re-signing with the Dolphins prior to the One-Day Cup, Imran Tahir showed his guile and experience to claim 3/41 in his nine overs.

The 46-year-old and youngster Tristan Luus took three wickets apiece while the inexperienced teenager Buyanda Majola claimed two wickets.

In response, the Dolphins’ innings was interrupted twice and rain had the final say with the Durban team 66/2 after 15 overs.

Had the game gone on to the 20-over mark (which would have constituted a match), the Tuskers would have been favourites as the Dolphins were behind the run rate.

The Dolphins’ next play the DP World Lions in Johannesburg on Wednesday (March 11) before a flurry of home games at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead on March 14, March 17 and March 22.

Scoreboard summary

Toss: Tuskers
Moothee Ram Tuskers 211/9 (41 overs)
Hollywoodbets Dolphins: 66/2 (15 overs)
No result
