A 20 MVA transformer was recently delivered at the sub-57 electricity power station in Estcourt.
This transformer cost the municipality R3.5 million.
Mayor Bongani Dlamini commended the Civil Department for their endeavour in making the municipality shine.
According the Senior Manager in the Electricity Department Cyril Moodley, the transformer was manufactured in Cape Town in the year 2012 and completed in Johannesburg in 2014.
Presenting this news at the Monday management meeting (MANCO) the Municipal Manager Nonhlanhla Njoko said this is one of the best projects and it means that the municipality will be sustainable for the next ten years.
The transformer will alleviate the congestion and increase capacity in-line with the municipality’s plan of building more houses for the poor.
