For more than four years the residents in Papkuilsfontein have had to deal with what becomes a ‘mini dam’ after a moderate or heavy rainfall. The water floods an entire section of the road, rendering it impassable.
Usually the water is washed away after a few hours but lately, days pass before the water level subsides. The storm water drains are serving no purpose as they are loaded with litter, especially after the covers were removed by the municipality more than two years ago.
A resident from Papkuilsfontein whose driveway is obstructed by the water says that her premises and vehicle are being damaged by the flooded road.
She hoped that by highlighting this through the media, the municipality would take action. Municipal Manager Nonhlanhla Njoko was alerted of this concern.
