UPDATE: Water should be back ‘hopefully during the course of the day’

The latest pipe burst has caused Sibongile to be without water this morning.

The water pressure in town should normalise during the course of the day as the pressure builds up in the supply system, following the break in the major pipe feeding Dundee.

Nomonde Nzwakhe of Umzinyathi District Municipality said the latest pipe burst has caused Sibongile to be without water this morning. Workmen are on the scene carrying out urgent repairs.  Water tankers have been sent out to supply residents.

The break in the pipe feeding Dundee, across from Majuba College, has been repaired with the assistance of uThukela District Municipality from where a 5 m x 450mm pipe was sourced.  The repairs were completed late yesterday evening but pressure had to be restored in the system after the water had been drained out to allow workmen to carry out the repairs.

Nomonde said water should be ‘back to normal’ during the course of the day and apologised to residents for the inconvenience.
