Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality promotes a healthy lifestyle

The theme for the month was to promote community food gardens, the one home, one garden campaign, advocate respect for senior citizens and promote healthy eating, exercise and care for senior citizens

On October 18 and 26, Inkosi Langalibalele Local Task Team (LTT) hosted an event in Ward five in Mahlubimangwe and Ward 16 in Shayamoya.

The theme for the month was to promote community food gardens, the one home, one garden campaign, advocate respect for senior citizens and promote healthy eating, exercise and care for senior citizens. Government departments rendered services to the community.

LTT executive committee member Mr Dlamini explained the purpose of Operation Sukuma Sakhe and how it helps the community. All the departments that attended gave messages of support.

Mayor Jabulile Mbele was present as the Champion of Inkosi Langalibalele LTT. She encouraged the community to start gardens, saying it will help develop and maintain healthy eating habits and reduce illnesses.

The Mayor handed over 30 walking sticks and sanitary towels from the Al-Imdaad Foundation. Blankets and T-shirts were given to the learners of Amahlubimangwe Primary School; these were donated by Thembalethu NGO.

In Ward 16, LTT Chairperson Mr VT Nkabinde and Cllr MC Mkhize handed over 30 walking sticks to the senior citizens. Sanitary towels were donated to schools. Both Cllr Mbongwa and Cllr Mkhize thank the Local Task Team and the government departments that attended. They were appreciative that some residents received assistance on the day.
