A foul stench hangs over Ruby Gailey Drive and the Hauser Park area due to an overflowing sewer.
Sewage has filled up the entire piece of vacant land where Ruby Gailey Drive meets Rawlinson Street.
The main sewer line, which is right next to the road, has been spewing raw effluent for a few months and has now created somewhat of a sewer dam in the area.

Many motorists commented on the matter, saying they have to wind up their windows when they drive past, as the smell is horrendous.
People living in the area say that when the wind blows towards their homes, they can’t sit outside due to the flies and the smell.
The problem has been reported to uThukela, with residents and motorists desperately hoping that the problem will be solved soon.
