Estcourt’s refuse removal remains irregular

Municipal Manager Mr PS Mkhize assured locals that this essential service should be back to its routine by September 17

Despite assurances that refuse removal would return to ‘normal’ last week, black bags lining the streets are still evident.

Last week the Estcourt News reported Municipal Manager Mr PS Mkhize assuring locals that this essential service should be back to its routine by September 17.

This, he explained, came after one of the refuse compactors was ‘fully repaired and should be ready for operation’. However, Mr Mkhize also warned that this was subject to a compliance examination from the traffic department.

Could this be the reason that refuse removal has returned to being erratic? Or are there other reasons? Despite a request for a follow-up last week, none was received from Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality.
