uThukela District Municipality would like to inform the community that this morning (October 6), upon routine inspections in the Driefontein Block, it was discovered that the newly refurbished water pump and electric pump (Peacetown – DT3) has once again been vandalised and burnt.
As a result, the entire Watersmeet area, Wards 16 and 18, will be severely affected. This unfortunate incident happened just after water supply had been stabilised in this area.
The matter will be reported to the SAPS for investigation.
A team from uThukela will be assessing the damage and will thereafter procure materials, including a new advanced security door. They will also dispatch water tankers to the affected areas.

uThukela District Municipality will be having a meeting with the stakeholders and the community regarding this matter. The time and place will be communicated with ward councillors.
