Meeting to table COGTA report goes in committee

The members if the media and public were asked to leave the council chambers due to the sensitive issues addressed in the report

A Council meeting, where the long awaited forensic investigation into the municipality is to be tabled, has gone in committee this afternoon

Last year, COGTA implemented Section 106 of the Municipal Infrastructure Act which relates to a forensic probe into the affairs of the Council. They appointed a forensic investigator to probe any maladministration at the municipality.

However, ‘due to the sensitivity of the issues in relation to the report and the actions which may emanate from them’, COGTA’s Sheetal Govender asked that the report be read in committee.
